"Phil" Augustus Acosta
Executive Director of Aloha Harvest
Food Systems Fellow
Honolulu, United States
Phil is the Executive Director of Aloha Harvest, Hawaii’s largest organization dedicated to food rescue and sustainability. Their vision is a world where food waste and hunger no longer exist. Phil leads the Aloha Harvest team in stepping up and meeting the community’s growing need for food assistance. They more than doubled the volume of food that they redistributed throughout O’ahu during the Covid-19 pandemic. Phil is continually expanding Aloha Harvest's network of community partners to help create a resilient community and a food system that is more efficient, equitable, and sustainable. Prior to Aloha Harvest, Phil and his family started up their own nonprofit organization providing homeless services to under-resourced communities. He has also served on the Board of Directors of one of State's largest Community Health Center.
