Raghav Raghunathan
Raghav currently serves as the Principal of the Farmers Segment at NCDEX, India’s largest agricultural commodities exchange. Here, he is responsible for establishing and running the operations of a new vertical that seeks to integrate marginal farmholders with electronic marketing platforms and has successfully brought digital market access to nearly 500,000 farmers. He is also the co-author of a report on “Doubling of Farmers Income”, which was adopted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India. Raghav began his professional career in the tribal hamlets of the Narmada Valley, working with RamRahim Pragati Producer Company Ltd, an agricultural value chain owned by nearly 3000 farmers. He led RamRahim’s operations and was instrumental in enabling a financial turnaround of the enterprise during the three years he spent living and working with them. He also helped RamRahim become the first such enterprise to launch farmers on a national level electronic market place where they could hedge and sell their produce directly. Raghav is a Materials Science Engineer from NIT-K Surathkal, where he was a Ministry of Steel Scholar, and a Young India Fellow at Ashoka University, where he was awarded the Mother Teresa Social Enterprise scholarship. He is an Acumen Fellow and an Aspen Ideas Scholar.
