María Elena is a hairdresser, community leader and Founder of the Belleza Negra - Villa Paz. A venture, that strengthens Afro Colombian culture through hairstyles and economic empowerment. Her project is focused on empowering girls and young people, making them proud of their roots as well as training them as agents of change. María Elena has worked for Save The Children and the Colombian Family Welfare Institute.
