Khatija is the Trustee & Director of the A R Rahman Foundation, managing overall administration and overseeing projects. The foundation works towards music education; youth empowerment, leading to reduction of poverty and breaking class barriers; and music research projects. It achieves this through providing skills training programmes and direct financial intervention for long-term sustainability. She also heads Kalpavriksha, an e-commerce platform supporting women's livelihoods, at Sethu Foundation. Khatija has featured in Elle India, Platform and Cosmopolitan India.
