Kennedy Oloo
Founder of Filamujuani
East Africa Fellow
As a nine-year-old the camera allowed Ken to flip the script of his life. It gave him a path out of the tough neighbourhood that he grew up in. Photography and videography have enabled Ken to make a living, travel the world and make a difference in the lives of the youth he works with. He founded Filamujuani (Films in the Sun) to skill the youth, mostly from informal settlements, to live out better stories with their lives and to tell great stories through the camera, while earning a living. Ken believes that when we work on telling better stories, the stories become a part of our lives. We become the characters in the stories we are telling. In the process we determine how our story is being written and how we will live out our story.
