Resilient Small-Scale Fisheries Leadership Accelerator 2023 Participant
Carlos Iván coordinates the sustainability project at Del Pacífico Seafoods in Mexico. He works directly with fishing communities, fishermen, as well as in a binding manner with interested parties (politicians, community leaders, NGOs, industry and academia) to develop strategic partnerships, with the vision of building socially and environmentally sustainable fishing. In addition, he coordinates a team to achieve and maintain fishing programs and standards such as the Fair Trade Fishing Standard (FTUSA) (wild shrimp and octopus) and Aquaculture (shrimp), the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) (aquaculture shrimp), the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) (shrimp fishery) and three Fisheries Improvement Projects (FIPs). Carlos has a master's degree in marine resource management and a doctorate in marine sciences from the National Polytechnic Institute.
